Please Prepare To Exit!

Just a quick update.
So last night around 10pm Chelise started feeling contractions, similar to the one's she's been feeling the past month. The difference this time was that they came about every hour or so. At first we didn't think much about it, having read about false labor, and the fact that we are a few days early. We enjoyed our evening together and headed off to bed. Chelise didn't mention anything more about feeling contractions. So I thought they had gone away and that she and I would have a normal night.

For us, lately, a normal night has consisted of her getting up around 2 or 3am to go to the bathroom, to get a glass of water, a bite to eat and some time with the recorded Cosby Shows on our PVR. So when I woke up to find her missing I didn’t think much about it. Falling back asleep for a few hours, I awoke briefly to catch the end of her second conversation with one of the nurses at our hospital. She had called them twice, the first time was to let them know she was having consistent contractions 10 minutes apart, and the second time was an hour and a half later with 6 minutes apart.

When I heard this news I jumped out of bed to check on the wife. She was definitely going into labor. Chelise is a very even keeled person and a tough gal. She told me that she was fine and that we needed to get things ready to go to the hospital. She did such a great job reassuring me that I decided to take a shower. It was a quick shower. Thankfully she let me sleep as she experienced the first few hours of contractions. She knew that I needed my rest in order to take care of her.

We left for the hospital at 4am and everything has been smooth. On our arrival the nurse checked Chelise and she was dilated to a 3, and then a few hours later the doctor checked her and she was at a 6. Here at 11am she’s at a 10. All that’s left is for the doctor to come back and tell her to push.

More to come later.
