The Stork Dropping

After a refreshing swim on Memorial Day, I had finally had enough and it was TIME to get this sweet baby girl here! Eric and I headed to the hospital around 9pm that night. Things progressed slowly, and in the morning around 11:30 the contractions finally began to be intense and extremely painful. I wanted to see how far I could get before getting an epidural, and around 12:30 I asked the nurse to check and see how close the baby seemed. She said I was only dilated to a 6. As it seemed like I still had hours to go, I asked her if she could call the anesthesiologist to come administer the pain meds, and the second she walked out the door to go get him, I felt a contraction with a HUGE drop between my legs! Lucy had made her way down with one painful contraction! Eric panicked and called the nurse back in and sure enough she was crowning and ready to be born - the on-call doc rushed in and asked me to catch the baby in my hands with the next contraction. It all happened so fast. Painful. Miraculous. Divine. Upon catching her, I pulled her up to my chest and just breathed, "We did it, baby". I really feel that she did just as much work to get here as I did. Sweet bond. What an experience for me and for this special little angel.
All 8 lbs. 3 oz. 21 inches of preciousness.
Later on that day...
The hospital was a sweet experience to bond with this sweet heart.
And then...we got to bring her home.
She got lots of love from her older brothers. The Smother Brothers, as we call them.
My sweet angel Mommy came to take care of me for Lucy's first week of life. This was one of the most special parts of receiving my baby girl - having the beautiful woman that gave me life come and help me take care of my own daughter. I love that mother/daughter link for the three of us. She was on a church mission when I gave birth to the boys, so this was my first experience having her come and truly one of the greatest gifts I could have been given - especially with having a daughter of my own.
She did the cutest things with the boys and was such a help in keeping them entertained (with pinterest activities). They loved her and all of us could not have felt more pampered. Thank you from the deepest part of my heart, Mom.

Yey, we are even more complete now! Lucy is loved.

That will always be a favorite memory of mine too. Close to heaven! New babies link us to that realm. Loved being with the boys and you two and Lucy!
