See all the BROWN stuff in the pictures below: (Yes, the DIRT).
And the MUD, MUD, MUD.
The GUYS LOVE it. Even Eric so kindly taught his sons how to put the hose in it and make a cool MUD bath.
That stuff has been ground into my carpet, eaten, dragged around the kitchen, poured out of shoes and clothing into beds, and I CAN NOT STAND IT ANY MORE! I have sworn since we moved in here that it would be gone if it was the last thing I do. Grrrr.
Here's a BEFORE shot of the side yard WITH the DIRT (and my dear friend Tauna who showed up a couple months ago with a saw and just climbed in my tree because there were some branches that were bugg'n her. She's so cute and a such a do'er).
LUCKILY...
Like I mentioned in another post, MY PARENTS (also big DO'ers) came to town and helped us with the grass and yard! And LOOK!!
Lovely GREEN instead of BROWN!!!
See it!! Ah, Kalem and Pax are even thrilled! They keep saying, "LOOK Mom! Grandpa's grass!" Oh my! It's perfect evidence of your visit & love, Mom and Dad!! I haven't rolled around it in yet, but I do look at it and want to!
Makeover details I am pleased to brag about: Most of the patio stuff here I salvaged from someone's trash. I repainted the swing bench and rocking chair (with free paint), and found the 2 hanging planters and put flower in them last week! Ah, I took a nap on that swing bench while the boys played - that was a nice REWARD for the blood, sweat, and tears this yard has given me.
Anyways, THANKYOU MOM & DAD!!! (and thank you dirt, for sacrificing for my sanity).

wow it looks so nice! Where do you guys live now?
Nice work! LOVE the blue paint...awesome! And more awesome that it was free... :) You all did a great job. It looks so refreshing back there. I would love to hang out sometime! lol
We were so thrilled to see the results. It does look so inviting. I'm sure the boys still love the dirt, but you can watch them from the more cultured side. We miss you and wish we could sit with you all there.
what awesome parents you have! i feel your pain of having dirt stained carpet due to no grass in a yard for a very.long.time! one thing is for sure, you learn to appreciate every.blade.of.grass when that happy day arrives! love you chelise!
