This boy is 1! His birthday was dreamy. Friday we woke up and had pancakes and opened cards and a gift from grandfamily. We went on a picnic with his friend, Jake, and then took a spin in his new carboard box-car. Kalem was really happy all day.
Saturday we woke up and headed to the ZOO! This was not only Kalem's big day, but Chelise couldn't contain herself...She couldn't wait to explore the place! We had a lot of fun! G'Papa Baird, Abuelita, the Sauris, Nikki & Wes all joined us for the day out in the wild. We loved it!
Mid-day, we found a shady bungalow for our packed picnic. And there Kalem got to dive into his cake. Chelise stayed up till mid-night making a double-layer 1-shaped cake with party deco. She had fun. On the hour drive to the Zoo, the cake had some trouble staying in it's seat, and flew twice to the floor beneath the drivers' seat. Luckily it stayed covered in its wrap, but lost some of it's shape due to the tossing, falling, and flipping. At the end of it's glory, Kalem enjoyed the taste, and didn't care what it looked like. Thanks cake for making us look good.

Happy Birthday Kalem! Wow, a year has gone by so quickly. Glad you guys had a fun day. We are a bit jealous of the amazing weather though, can't remember the last time we saw the sun :(
